The 遗嘱检验法院 of 桃县 issues marriage licenses and maintains those records. We also issue certified and plain copies of marriage licenses and applications for all marriages that were applied for in 桃县.

Obtaining a License to Marry

  • Applicants must both appear in person
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. (Certain circumstances permit underage applicants to obtain a marriage license. Call the 桃县 遗嘱检验法院 for additional information.)
  • A picture identification card is required for both applicants.
  • A divorce decree or death certificate from the former spouse is required from one or both applicants that have had prior marriages.
  • An application for a marriage license must be filled out and signed by both applicants.
  • At lease one applicant has to be a resident of Georgia in order to apply for a marriage license in a county other than the county they are to be married in. If both applicants are not residents of Georgia, you must apply in the same county you are getting married in.
  • There is a $56 fee for a marriage license without certification of Premarital Counseling. With Certification of Premarital Counseling the fee is $16.00. These fees are payable by cash, 检查, 或者汇票.

Filing a License After A Marriage Ceremony

After a couple is married by a clergy or person who is authorized to perform marriage ceremonies, the license is mailed back to the 遗嘱检验法院.

Fees for Certified and Plain Copies of 结婚证 and Applications

  • If a couple needs copies of their marriage license, they may be purchased for $10 each using cash, 检查, 或者汇票.
  • The marriage license is public record and can be purchased by anyone. No identification is required to purchase certified copy of a marriage license.

To Receive Certified or Plain Copies in the Mail

  • Send us a written request with the name of the Bride (name prior to marriage) and Groom and date of marriage.
  • Please tell us how many copies you are requesting.
  • Please enclose a 检查 或者汇票 for the total amount of copies requested (fees listed above).

Notice of Change in Fees for 结婚证

7月1日生效, 2010, there was a change in the fees for applications for marriage licenses in the State of Georgia. 根据众议院948号法案, the application fee was raised unless the couple seeking the license have completed a qualifying premarital education program*, 条例草案所界定的.

*根据众议院378号法案, a “qualifying premarital education program” shall include at least six hours of “instruction involving marital issues, which may include but not be limited to conflict management, 沟通技巧, 财务责任, child and parenting responsibilities, 以及扩展的家庭角色.” The program must have been completed within 12 months prior to the application and the couple must have undergone the premarital education together. To qualify, the premarital education must have been performed by:

  1. A professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist;
  2. 精神病学家;
  3. a psychologist; or
  4. an active member of the clergy when in the course of his or her service as clergy, or the designee of such active member of the clergy, provided the designee is skilled and trained in premarital education.

In order to qualify for the reduced fee, the couple must provide the Court a signed and dated certificate of completion of a qualifying premarital education program. The Court has an acceptable Certificate which you take to the premarital education provider.
